Show people would like the general
public to think Chocolate Danes are the "current fad"
with those of us breeding for them, however, the truth is they have been
around since the mid-60's. Below are pictures of a
chocolate brindle with a chocolate nose shown in
1971 in a Dane magazine! She was eventual disqualified
for not having the black nose required for a
brindle. At least someone had the guts back then
to show what was a truly beautiful dog. I'd also
like to mention that Butterscotch came from color pure
lines!
From looking at the pictures below, I'd
say designer Danes do have good conformation so, I guess they
can not compete simply because of their color! This is
the equivalent of the KKK in the dog world and it's a shame
the show circuit isn't more evolved than that! Most show
and breed standard breeders either
euthanize or
abandon their off colored
puppies! We prefer to give them great homes!! The
ironic thing is many of them think the designer colors are
beautiful, as they even post on their blogs, and either own
one or want to own one. What hypocrites!
Bottom line, if someone is
not interested in showing in conformation
classes then why shouldn't they be allowed to have the
choice (freedom) to own whatever
color of Dane they want to and give a great home?
After all, this is America, land of the FREE!
